'Diana of Versailles'
This black and white photograph captures the statue of Diana in Versailles, which is a bronze copy of an early-Roman marble statue currently displayed in the Louvre (itself a copy of a lost Greek bronze original, attributed to Leochares, c. 325 BC). It depicts the Roman goddess of the hunt in a dynamic pose as she reaches for an arrow from her quiver. Her arm gracefully frames her face, emphasising her focus and elegant form. The monochromatic contrast also enhances the texture of the weather bronze, creating an unpolished, wild finish befitting the huntress. An ideal print for admirers of Diana (or Artemis, in Greek mythology), or anyone with an appreciation for classical antiquity and sculpture.
