Display images = ISO (A-size). Artwork may be adjusted slightly for non-ISO sizes.
Passepartouts (mats/mounts) are not included. If you purchase an unframed print and plan to use a passepartout, please consider your window size vs print size, inclusive of any white border shown. Feel free to contact me if you'd like to make adjustments to ensure perfect fit.

A watercolour portrait of Jason, leader of the Argonauts in the quest for the Golden Fleece. The hero is rendered in the loose, tonal style of the watercolour — colour allowed to bleed into the page, detail left soft at the edges.
Jason was the rightful heir to the throne of Iolcus, usurped by his uncle Pelias. Pelias set him the impossible task of sailing to Colchis, at the far eastern edge of the Black Sea, to retrieve a magical ram's fleece held under guard by a sleepless dragon. Jason built the ship Argo, recruited a crew of heroes (Hercules and Orpheus among them), won the sorceress Medea to his side at Colchis, and brought the Fleece home. The long voyage out and back is the subject of the Argonautica, the Hellenistic epic of Apollonius of Rhodes.
