A minimalist single-line drawing of Paris, the Trojan prince whose judgement of the three goddesses and abduction of Helen touched off the ten-year war at Troy. The whole figure is carried in a single continuous line — Phrygian cap, profile, the drawn bow.
Paris was the second son of King Priam of Troy, exposed at birth after a prophecy that he would destroy the city and raised by a shepherd on Mount Ida. When the goddess Eris threw a golden apple inscribed "for the fairest" into an Olympian wedding feast, the three claimants — Hera, Athena and Aphrodite — took their dispute to Paris for judgement. Aphrodite promised him the most beautiful woman in the world; he gave her the apple, and she gave him Helen. Years later Paris killed Achilles with an arrow to the heel, the one shot that justified his narrow reputation as an archer rather than a front-line fighter.
This line art distils the figure down to a single graphic gesture.
